Mongolian Yurt

Marthrown Yurt - sleeps up to 4.

Our Mongolian Yurt (or Ger to give it its correct name) has proved very popular with couples, small groups and families interested in 'Glamping' in Mabie Forest in Dumfries and Galloway, southern Scotland.

The centrepiece of the Yurt is a very effective wood burning stove which has an oven in which you can rustle up a tasty meal.

 Guest Comment:
“How to leave the yurt? Turn your back on it and run down the hill fast! Don’t look back – just remember it!”
Ann and John

There is also a 2 ring gas cooker with a grill and all pots and pans are provided. The “kitchen unit” is to die for (at least I think it is!!) constructed lovingly by our handyman Steve from hazel with a sycamore top it really looks the part.

“Arriving in torrential rain we changed plan and stayed 2 nights in the yurt – blissfully warm, dry and excellent value. We cooked a roast in the oven and walked in the forest. We’ll be back for a longer stay. Thanks for your kindness and welcome” Harriet, Julian, Ruby and George – Lyme Regis.

It has a double sofa bed and two single beds, table and chairs and a range of books and games.
Electricity is a 12 volt system to provide lights.

“Yurt – Fantastically simple, zero impact and in today’s material world this reminds you and proves that nature still wins hands down. The non-commercialness only enhances the feel, and yet the surprise of the facilities means you can enjoy with a “treated” feeling. I am thinking how many friends I can invite here, and reasons to get them to share this unique facility. I hope it stays the hidden treasure it is so we can enjoy Mabie Forest to the full. Thanks”
Gaz Shaw, Lancs.

The Yurt is tucked away in its own secluded area with BBQ and its own picnic table.

For a very special experience come and stay a few days in our Yurt – you won’t want to leave!
